Finally, the lingering late-summer heat has given way to a bright chill in Los Angeles, and gentle rain has settled into its daily schedule in Tacoma —and until our old Los Angeles house sells, I will have a foot in each city. I am writing this in Tacoma right now, so if you’re in the Puget Sound area, let’s get coffee! I’ll be back in Los Angeles for most of December, so if you live in SoCal and want to get together, let’s schedule that soon. Otherwise, I am always as close as your phone, email, Substack or Zoom app!
I am emerging from a profoundly difficult four-month stretch of life while I dealt with family, personal, and health challenges. Not all of them were negative, but all of them were exhausting. “They took all my spoons,” one might say. Now that I am recovering, I am grateful right now for …well, everything, really.
Especially grateful that you are taking the time to read this.
Thank you.
If you subscribe to Write Well and Publish Wisely you may have noticed it has been paused these past few months. I will be starting up again with weekly updates, and if you’d like to see those, you can subscribe for free with this handy blue button.
And yes, I am finally taking new clients again!
I’m not the only Wordsmith Writing Coach seeking clients, though. Our whole team has been fielding requests for help, manuscript critiques, and all sorts of editing and coaching requests while I have been hors de combat. Plus we have a new Wordsmith associate who is now at your service: George Galdorisi !
George is a combat veteran and an award-winning bestselling author of military thriller, with decades of writing and publishing experience. He also mentors graduate and doctoral students, helping to translate their research into finely crafted studies and papers for peer-reviewed publication.
George also writes Tom Clancy-caliber fiction. He can help you do it too… or at least help you level up your fiction! He’s a developmental editor, coach, and instructor, but he isn’t Calliope; he can’t magically grant you talent, discipline, or favor.
(He will help you develop all those things yourself, though…)
If you want to work with George as your Wordsmith coach, fill out the contact form on our site and ask for him directly. I’ll do a brief initial consultation with you, then you’ll schedule time with George.
Of course, George is just one of our many talented editors, mentors, ghostwriters, writing coaches, and academic coaches. I’ll introduce each of them individually on the Wordsmith YouTube channel over the next six weeks or so; click the bell icon to subscribe and you’ll be notified whenever a new Wordsmith video interview is posted.
So, for the next five weeks or so I’ll be doing video interviews with my Wordsmith associates, editing a client’s manuscript (oooh, someone got to me before you did! Email me anyway, I’ll finish that manuscript soon), and preparing for the three big speaking events I’ll be doing next year:
Life, the Universe, and Everything (February, in Salt Lake City)
Writer MBA (March, in New Orleans)
LA Times Festival of Books (April, in Los Angeles)
There may be several smaller events too, like the Pacific Northwest Writers Conference (September, in Seattle) and maybe something in Idaho or Guatemala. I’ll tell you more about each one as it approaches.
I hope to meet you in person at one of these events, or online at your convenience!
Let me know how I can help you to write well and publish wisely.
That’s what I’m here for.
